Why Should We Quarantine?

Once we receive the fishes in our facility, they are treated with Copper Power at the therapeutic level of 2.5 ppm  and Prazipro for 30 days.

During this period they are fed brine shrimp or mysis soaked with Metroplex and Kanaplex for 3 days, If there is any sign of bacterial infection – the treatment continues. 

Copper Power – Treats Ich/Velvet, Brook and Uronema.

PraziPro – Treats potentially harmful parasitic conditions caused by flukes, tapeworms, flatworms and turbellarians.

MetroPlex – Is an effective and safe treatment for several protozoan and anaerobic  bacterial diseases of fish (Cryptocaryon, Hexamita, Ichthyophthirius).

KanaPlex – Is an effective and safe treatment for fungal and bacterial diseases of fish (Popeye, Dropsy, Fin/Tail Rot, Septicemia).

I have been in this hobby for 15 years and in those years I have personally lost several fishes due to ICH, Marine Velvet and Brook. I have also witnessed several people getting out of the hobby due to their tank crashing.

Most of the fishes sold in the market are wild caught, and very few are tank raised. Most wild caught fishes carry various parasites and diseases from the wild which is natural. However, unlike the vast ocean – our tanks are tiny closed systems where these diseases become more deadly.

Your local fish stores and wholesalers are not able to Quarantine all the fishes that come in due to such a large volume. This is why it is simple for us because we do it in a small volume. Introducing a sick fish in your display tank without Quarantine can potentially put every other fish in your system at risk. 

Purchasing a pre-quarantined fish will reduce your risk by 99%, since we are dealing with livestock here. There is no guarantee, we can just try our best.

Quarantine Procedure

Acclimation Procedure

After receiving the package please float the bags for temperature acclimation for 25 to 30 mins.

If the difference in salinity between ‘YOUR’ tank water and ‘OUR’ water is less than 3 points then you can just release the fish in the display directly.

If the difference in salinity between ‘YOUR’ tank water and ‘OUR’ water is more than 3 points then its best to drip acclimate for 45 to 50 mins before introducing the fish to your tank.
